As winter approaches, so do the latest whiskies, with new Scottish and American additions to the market. The booming seltzer category has also been joined by two independent Aussie brands this week. Plus a new ginger beer is racing off the shelves.

The Glen Grant Arboralis

Australia is the first global market to be given the chance to try The Glen Grant’s latest expression, Arboralis, which has been aged in former bourbon and Spanish sherry oak casks.

The whisky has a unique bright gold colour, with an aroma of dried raisins, honeysuckle, oaky malt notes and hints of lemon citrus. The taste sees oak and butterscotch merge with dried fruits, followed by a touch of light spice. The finish is long, with notes of malt, vanilla and pear.

The Glen Grant Arboralis is available from liquor retail outlets for RRP $60.99.

Westward Stout Cask

Think Spirits has announced the Australian launch of the award-winning Westward Oregon Stout Cask Whiskey.

This new expression is rich and robust with notes of roasted grain, stone fruit, toasted pecan, milk chocolate and has a bold, dry finish.

Westward Oregon Stout Cask begins by brewing an American pale ale, from scratch, using locally malted barley, ale yeast, and a slow, low temperature fermentation. The fresh beer is then distilled twice in custom pot stills, before entering lightly toasted American Oak barrels barrel at a relatively low proof. Finally, select Westward barrels are further finished for up to one year in fresh stout casks to create Westward Oregon Stout Cask.
