Think Spirits has announced the Australian launch of the award-winning Westward Oregon Stout Cask Whiskey.
This new expression is rich and robust with notes of roasted grain, stone fruit, toasted pecan, milk chocolate and has a bold, dry finish.
Westward Whiskey Stout Cask recently received a Gold Medal at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Westward has a philosophy of ‘minimalist distilling’, which eschews mass efficiency in favour of focusing on bringing out the flavor of its grain and other natural ingredients.
Westward Oregon Stout Cask begins by brewing an American pale ale, from scratch, using locally malted barley, ale yeast, and a slow, low temperature fermentation.
The fresh beer is then distilled twice in custom pot stills, before entering lightly toasted American Oak barrels barrel at a relatively low proof. The whiskey is aged to taste in the Portland, where the region’s hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters are the ideal environment to create single malt whiskey. Finally, select Westward barrels are further finished for up to one year in fresh stout casks to create Westward Oregon Stout Cask.

Australia is also one of the top three global markets for US spirits exports and American whiskeys, with US exports to Australia growing 64% over the last decade.
Imported and distributed by Think Spirits in Australia, Westward Whiskey Stout Cask is available from May, 2020 in select retailers.
