Taking inspiration from the most popular cocktails at its very own distillery bar in Port Melbourne, Starward has launched its excited first ever, ready-to-drink, Canned Cocktails range, kicking off with three new flavours.
- Starward Whisky, Tonic and Juicy Ruby Grapefruit: Tonic perfectly balanced with ruby grapefruits and red wine barrel aged whisky. This one is a nod to founder David Vitale’s favourite way to enjoy a Starward whisky.
- Starward Whisky, Ginger Beer and Zesty Orange: Distillery made Ginger Beer (the famous and unreleased) fizzing with bright and refreshing tropical notes and light and toasted oak moments. This one has already proven to be popular amongst the judges too, scoring a Gold Medal at the 2022 The Spirits Business Pre-Mixed & RTD Masters.
- Starward Whisky, Soda and Tangy Finger Lime: Native finger lime and Starward whisky in a remix on this classic soda serve. No sugar with a big citrus kick, this cocktail is refreshing and moreish.
The ready-to-drink category is at an all-time high in Australia, with a recent report by Roy Morgan indicating that as many as 3.3 million Australians have consumed a ready-to-drink beverage in the last month. Starward’s Marketing Director, Brendan Moynihan, is looking forward to the opportunities that the Canned Cocktail range brings in recruiting new people into the world of whisky.
“It was important to us that Starward’s Canned Cocktails offered something new to the category. We didn’t want to follow the rulebook and mix our whisky with expected flavours. Not to mention, we’re lucky to have a whisky that can mix with light and bright flavours, so well. This is why we have released our Canned Cocktails range in bright, fruity and highly refreshing serves.
“We know that consumers will be on the hunt for convenient yet delicious drink solutions this summer and breaking away from tradition with unexpected yet highly refreshing serves could be key in recruiting a new wave of whisky drinkers,” he says.
