The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation has announced a change to the delivery of the Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG) training course, starting 1 January 2017. The new standardised course will contain two modules, with the first required to be completed by staff before they commencement of work in a gaming venue, and the second within the following six months.

Prior to the new course’s start in January, the requirements under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 of staff to complete the current RSG training and refresher courses still apply.

Staff who have previously completed RSG training will need to undergo the new RSG training requirements once expired, three years after the date of completion.

As the new course requires the second module to be completed within six months, provisions have been made for those who would need to have finished their RSG training on or before 30 June 2017. These staff will have until 1 July 2017 to complete both modules.
