Help protect Australia’s Little Penguin, thanks to the launch of the new Peach Penguin flavour and Part Time Rangers new scholarship for scientists, conservationists and nature lovers.

A portion of proceeds from every can of Peach Penguin sold supporting Penguin Island in Western Australia and the brand has launched a first-of-its-kind scholarship to join scientists in Western Australia as they help to protect the Little Penguin for future generations, in partnership with the Conservation Council of WA.

The Little Penguin has experienced a population decline of 80 per cent since 2007, as a result of warmer ocean conditions and increasing air temperatures but not many Australians know that the Little Penguin is a conservation concern.

Conservation biologist, Dr Erin Clitheroe PhD, said: “Australia’s Little Penguin is a national treasure, but populations are in decline and this bird could soon face extinction if we don’t act and provide solutions. The Part Time Ranger Scholarship is an opportunity to see the science first hand while helping support and promote wider conservation efforts to save this beautiful Aussie bird.”

The Part Time Ranger Scholarship is an immersive conservation experience, giving scholar-sippers the opportunity to travel to Penguin Island in Western Australia and be mentored by leading conservation biologist, Dr Erin Clitheroe PhD. The winner will join Dr Clitheroe, to monitor Little Penguins and test new, lower temperature nest boxes to cool down penguins on hot days.

The Part Time Ranger Scholarship was launched following new research revealing:

  • Over half of young Australians are passionate about animal welfare and wildlife conservation – the highest of any other generation – while three in five are concerned about the future of our endangered animals.
  • More than three quarters of young Australians agree it’s important to use their time to give back and care for the environment.

Part Time Rangers Brand Manager, Ashleigh Wheeler, said: “Part Time Rangers drinks are not only delicious, they also support wildlife conservation efforts around the world. We’re excited to take the launch of Peach Penguin to the next level by giving one lucky Aussie Ranger the chance to become a Part Time Ranger, to help to save and protect Australia’s Little Penguin.”

Applications for the Part Time Ranger Scholarship open Friday, 20 January to coincide with National Penguin Awareness Day and will run until Monday, 20 February. Visit the Part Time Rangers website here to enter.
