The Endeavour Group has installed 350 solar panels at four of its largest Western Sydney locations.
Dan Murphy’s, the Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH) hotel, the Jamison Hotel and the Pioneer Tavern in Penrith all received a 100-kilowatt upgrade, which is enough to generate 30 per cent of the stores’ combined energy requirements.
Tyson Holbery, Head of Format Operations at Endeavour Group, said the solar panels are a sound investment and show the company leads in innovation and technology.
“We are really excited to add these venues to our solar-activated sites, demonstrating our continued progress towards our sustainability targets,” he said.
Solar panels are part of Endeavour Group’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint, with the end goal of being 100 per cent powered by renewable electricity by 2030.
Holbery said this latest round of solar panel installations forms part of Endeavour Group’s larger plan.
“There is about $1 million earmarked for solar projects for Dan Murphy’s stores and about $4 million across ALH venues nationally, totalling around $5 million over the next financial year,” he said.
Currently, there are 58 Dan Murphy’s with solar panels already installed and another 92 stores soon to follow, making a total of 150 stores with rooftop solar nationwide.
According to the Endeavour Group, rooftop solar from Dan Murphy’s has generated more than 12,807,031 kilowatts of energy, enough to power a little over 2,250 homes for a year.
In addition to the Dan Murphy’s rollout, 31 ALH hotels also have solar panels installed, with plans to have 60 hotels solar activated by the end of the financial year.
To date, ALH hotels have generated more than 8,015,600 kilowatts of energy, enough to power 1,408 homes for a year.
