Entertainment Venues Australia, the operator of Adelaide pubs the Royal Terrace Hotel, The Glenelg Pier Hotel, Propoganda Club, the Links Lady Bay Hotel and the Brougham Adelaide, has been placed in liquidation.

Signs have been placed on The Royal and Pier Hotels stating that the businesses are temporarily closed. The Brougham Adelaide is also closed.

The Royal and Pier Hotel were bought by hospitality group Entertainment Venues Australia last year, after their previous operator went broke.

Consumer and Business Services licence details show that the Brougham’s gaming and liquor licences have been suspended until November 21, 2019.

The property’s landlord Oberdan Nominees has also taken possession of the licenses, according to the CBS database.

Glenelg Pier Hotel is a popular wedding venue

The Adelaide Advertiser reports “panicked brides-in-waiting have taken to social media concerned that their biggest day could be ruined after The Advertiser revealed Entertainment Venues Australia had gone bust”.

One woman contacted the paper saying that she paid a $7000 deposit towards her planned wedding at the Pier (pictured above) on October 26.

“We have to have it that weekend because we have guests coming from overseas and interstate,” she said.

“I know of another lady in the same boat as me whose supposed to be married there next month.”

The newspaper also reports that Entertainment Venues Australia owes suppliers thousands of dollars in unpaid bills.

One said the company’s director Elli Cakar had “spread himself too thin” by taking over six venues at once.
