Voyager Estate has collaborated with fellow Margaret River resident SouWester Spirits to create a unique Chardonnay Macerated Gin.
Voyager Estate macerated whole bunches of freshly-picked Voyager Chardonnay grapes for three months in a juniper spirit, before blending the batch with individual distillations of Christmas Tree flower (a first for spirits), Geraldton wax, red samphire, finger lime and coriander.
The blend was then aged in a Voyager MJW French oak barrel before being hand bottled and individually numbered.
The gin offers fresh bouquet displays of vanilla bean and floral notes with underlying hints of honeysuckle nectar. The mouthfeel offers warming saltiness and velvety, all framed by soft, toasty oak imparted by the Chardonnay barrel.
And it’s already won a bronze medal at the 2019 Australian Gin Awards.
As a Christmas gift idea, Voyager has paired the gin with its latest release of its organic MJW Chardonnay which presents similar citrus, nectarine and spices with a complex and balanced finish, together with two Riedel O Wine tumblers. The set is priced at $240
