Trade can now order the award-winning Flying Brick Cider range from within New South Wales after the brand recently appointed Sam Lockyer as its local Account Manager and established a warehouse base in the state.

The natural cider range was already available in its home state of Victoria, as well as Queensland and South Australia, where it has grown year on year since its launch in 2010. In fact, Flying Brick Cider is now one of the fastest growing craft ciders in Australia and is supported by the fast growth of its category (+8.1 per cent in value/+9.4 per cent in volume, IRI MarketEdge to 6/11/2016).

Director of Flying Brick Cider Co., Lyndsay Sharp, said the decision to move into a new market “reflects the pride and faith we have in the products and the brand.”

“We are ready, stocked and excited about showcasing our little piece of Victoria to NSW on an ongoing and solid supply flow basis. Our NSW State Manager, Sam Lockyer, is well known to many in the industry for his passion, knowledge and commitment to showcasing quality wine and cider.”

The ciders – Original, Pear and Draught – are made on-site at Flying Brick’s own cider house in Bellarine Peninsula. Cider Master Nyall Condon crafts the ciders from 100 per cent fresh fruit and each contains no nasties – that includes no sugars, colours, flavourings or concentrates.

The range comes in black stubbies and kegs, giving bars and retailers the option to stock them in fridges, on shelves and taps.

Sharp added, “From the very start, our mantra was to craft ciders that were pure and natural – the ciders are fresh, real and honest. They really are their own ambassadors, once people try them taste wins them over which is what it is all about.”

As for the name, that comes from the resident Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo, which the locals call Flying Brick. The team at Flying Brick likes to think its ciders take after the bird’s happy, playful and cheeky character.

Original
A very approachable, easy-drinking and moorish cider. An aroma of toffee apple and vanilla. Light fizz and sweet apples on the palate.

Pear
A crisp and slightly drier cider. The pears give a kind of sweet and sour flavour that makes you want to keep going back for more.

Draught
This cider has an amazing golden colour. Sweet apple and honey in both aroma and flavour. Very nicely balanced.

RRP (all flavours): $8 per stubby, $20-25 per four-pack, $88 per 24-pack
