Leading brewery Lion has announced the winners of their annual Supplier Recognition Awards this week, recognising outstanding supply partners across Australia and New Zealand.
The awards recognised suppliers who excelled across various categories including packing, ingredients, logistics, engineering, site services, diversity, innovation and sustainability and the overall winner.
Sam Fischer, CEO of Lion Group, said the awards were an opportunity for the company to show appreciation to their suppliers who play a vital role in the Lion business.
“Our partnerships with suppliers are absolutely vital to our ability to brew and transport our products to pubs, bars, bottleshops and fridges in every corner of Australia and New Zealand.
“This is an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate strong and enduring partnerships, while also looking forward to opportunities to grow together into the future,” he said.
A first for Lion, this year the award categories were expanded to include a Diverse Supplier Award, designed to recognise businesses run as a social enterprise or by indigenous Australians or women.
The inaugural winner, Gforce, is a social enterprise based in Geelong that supplies temporary forklift drivers to Lion’s Little Creatures brewery in Geelong.
The overall 2022 Supplier of the Year, Hop Products Australia (HPA), is a leading Hop grower and a long-term Lion supplier based in Tasmania.
Mauricio Ferrerira, Supply Chain Officer at Lion, said HPA is an outstanding supplier who maintained their high standards even throughout the global pandemic.
“HPA’s commitment to delivering and maintaining the highest standard of products for use by Lion emanates through the brewery process and helps set our products apart in market.
“We are grateful to all of our suppliers for the support of their incredible teams of experts and their partnership, particularly through the disruption of the past three years, and we look forward to continuing our work together in the next growth phase of Lion’s journey,” he said.
