Handpicked Wines has opened its Cellar Door, located on the corner of Kensington and Outram Streets, Chippendale. The winery showcases its own “hand-picked” selection of Australian and international wines, across all regions and varietals.

Handpicked Wines winemaker, Peter Dillon, said, “We are excited to be bringing a diverse range of vineyards and wineries into a space which is more than just bricks and a mortar cellar door but a chance to bring premium wines from around the globe, together under the one roof.”

Located in an exposed-brick warehouse that formerly housed a CUB brewery workshop, the Cellar Door will look to offer a contemporary approach to the traditional experience. With the aim of educating as well as entertaining its guests, modern twists include interactive iPads and 30-minute tutored tastings.

Kensington Street itself features once hollow industrial structures that now host a vibrant array of cafes, bars and restaurants. Handpicked allows visitors to the area an opportunity to take away their favourite wines, to be enjoyed at the nearby eateries.

For those looking to book private functions, the Experience Room can seat up to 20 people, with tastings presented by sommeliers, wine educators and guest hosts alike.

New projects from a pedigreed team of Handpicked winemakers will be on show, with visitors invited to taste several unfinished wines straight from the tank, as well as order small batch wines on tap. As many as 30 Handpicked wines will also be available for order at any one time, by the glass or bottle.

Also on offer is a large a selection of artisanal cheese and charcuterie, curated by Surry Hills-based specialists, Formaggi Ocello, as well as craft beer and cider from around the state.

The Handpicked Cellar Door is located at 50 Kensington Street Chippendale, open Monday to Friday from 11.00am to 10.00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10.00am to 10.00pm.
