Drinks industry supports Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

The theme for Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras 2020 is “What Matters” and major partners and suppliers are stepping up to show their support for the LGBTQI community.

Mardi Gras noted: “We’ve come so far, and we know there’s so much further to go together.

“What Matters to you? What are you willing to fight for? Who will you fight for, and what are you going to do?”

In the drinks industry, Major Partners of the festival are Woolworths Group and Yak Brewing; while in the hospitality industry The Star Sydney has been a Partner since 2016, and W Hotels will be a major part of the celebration for the first time this year, showcasing its first-ever float in the 2020 Mardi Gras Parade taking place on February 29.

Yak Brewing Mardi Gras

CUB’s Yak Brewing became a Major Partner of Mardi Gras in 2019 and has returned this year.

“We’re excited to again be partnering with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras,” the brand said. “Catch us in the parade with our rainbow Yak!

More than 80 Carlton & United Breweries staff are preparing to march this weekend in the 2020 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Employees representing various functions from CUB sites in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth will be joined by members of the CUB leadership team including Madelyn Ring (VP People), Zoe Solomon (VP Legal) and Rose Scott (VP Sales) in the march down Oxford Street. 

This year, Yak Brewing’s choreographed routine will be to Kylie Minogue’s song “Celebration”.

Absolut is an official supporter and supplier of Mardi Gras.

Absolut Love Letters; Mardi Gras

Absolut has also launched Absolut Love Letters, a campaign that celebrates the power and stories of the LGBTIQ+ community, their allies and friends and highlights the importance of being a vocal supporter in 2020.
