Drinks International reported last week that Doug Bagley is set to leave Diageo. Best remembered as the head of Travel Retail, Bagley’s exit comes amid Diageo’s split of its Global Travel & Middle East unit to create a distinct London-based Travel Retail Unit.

The report states Diageo’s intentions with the split are to remove the “regional complexity” of the current arrangement and drive improved efficiencies. The Middle East and North Africa businesses will now move reporting lines to Turkey.

With the new unit’s headquarters moving from the current Singapore location to London, Bagley has reportedly chosen to remain with his family in Singapore, and consequently depart from Diageo.

Bagley will be departing after having spent 9 years with Diageo, first joining as the general manager for Greater China in 2009 before moving up the ranks to head of Travel Retail & the Middle East in 2013.

Dayalan Nayager, currently the regional director for Global Travel, Middle East & Europe, has been appointed Diageo’s new head of Travel Retail.
