Coles Liquor addresses consumer demand by launching a new Tasmanian vodka, Pure Origin.

On the back of the gin wave, there is emerging a new consumer interest in that other great white spirit, vodka. In response to this consumer thirst for the white spirit, Coles Liquor has launched a new Tasmanian vodka called Pure Origin.

Channelling the Tasmanian reputation of being clean and green Pure Origin sets out to capture this essence in a bottle as well as offering consumers quality and affordability.

Pure Origin is distilled for Coles Liquor by Anthony White, head distiller at Tasmania’s White Label Distillery using an all-copper Tasmanian-made pot still. The small-batch spirit is further refined through active carbon filtration before finished with the addition of pure Tassie spring water from the slopes of Mount Wellington.  The result is a vodka that is touted as crisp, clean and balanced.

On the palate, it shows medium-body and characters of citrus peel and cracked peppercorns. The team from Pure Origin recommend serving it straight up on the rocks to appreciate its quality and nuance however, it is just as great in a cocktail or with a mixer.

To get consumers excited about the new Tassie vodka Coles Liquor has collaborated with celebrated Aussie and Melbourne-based bartender Chelsea Catherine to create bespoke cocktail recipes inspired by the green state that are easy to recreate at home, namely Tasmanian Mule, Wellington Spritz, Summit to Shore and Pure Cup.

Coles General Manager of Merchandise, Brad Gorman said that Pure Origin vodka has been created as part of Coles Liquor’s commitment to ensuring locally made drinks are accessible to all Australians.

“Vodka is an extremely popular choice for our customers and in particular, small-batch sprits from local suppliers are more in demand than ever before. By working closely with Anthony White and this team, we’ve been able to create a premium, Tasmanian vodka that Australians can enjoy at home”.

White Label Distillery’s Head Distiller, Anthony White added “Tasmania is sparkling clean, offering crisp, fresh air and untainted water. Given the water used within vodka plays such a fundamental role in determining the taste of the finished spirit, Tasmanian water is the perfect choice for an exceptionally pure vodka.

“We’re incredibly proud to have collaborated with Coles Liquor to create a Tasmanian vodka that is available nation-wide”.
