ALH Group are once again rolling out its ‘Parma for a Farmer’ program in 2024, an initiative that will donate $1 for every chicken parmigiana sold to the agricultural charity Rural Aid.

Running across the 300+ ALH Group venues nationwide throughout all of February, proceeds will directly contribute to Rural Aid’s various farmer support initiatives such as providing funds for water schemes, fodder for animals, mental health support, along with direct financial assistance for those struggling to make ends meet.

“Last year, we were able to raise $113,505 to support farmers affected by natural disasters, and we hope to build on this success and once again rally Aussies to support farming communities who need our support now as much as ever,” said Lukas McKay, ALH Hotels General Manager.

“Pubs serve as the lifeblood of local and regional communities, playing an invaluable role in bringing people together.

“The chicken parma is our top selling food-item across ALH Hotels and we hope the funds raised can make a real impact.”

There are currently more than 18,000 primary producers registered with Rural Aid in Australia. In 2023, the charity successfully funded the installation of 32 water tanks together valued at a total of $92,480, delivered 550 hay bales, and provided direct financial assistance in the form of 60 prepaid Visa cards valued at $1500 each.

“These donations make a significant impact, contributing to the well-being and sustainability of rural areas across Australia,” said John Warlters, CEO of Rural Aid.

“Farmers are stoic characters and continue to battle the elements on a daily basis. This much needed support will provide a vital lifeline to help them continue to do what they do best.

“We appreciate ALH’s ongoing commitment through the Parma for a Farmer campaign and welcome every purchase of a classic parma for this important cause.”

Last year’s ‘Parma for a Farmer’ saw a new record of 113,505 parmigianas sold. For 2024, ALH Group has already received a significant funding headstart from its suppliers.

“We are also very grateful to our suppliers who have started us out with an incredibly generous $50,000 donation,” said Lukas.

“Whether you’re enjoying it with a refreshing pale ale, or sharing the moment with family, make it your number one choice throughout the month of February.”
