ALDI Australia has announced its intentions to expand into South Australia, with the commencement of the steel work at their Distribution Centre, as well as further plans for future store sites.

BADGE construction company was appointed by ALDI to oversee the development of their 32,000sqm Distribution Centre at Regency Park, which is expected to take place over the next 8 months, employing more than 500 local contractors.

“With the building’s steel work now taking shape, ALDI’s presence in South Australia is fast becoming a reality,” said Viktor Jakupec, ALDI Managing Director – South Australia.

“This new Distribution Centre will act as the hub of ALDI’s South Australian region and will have the ability to service up to 50 stores.”

ALDI has also commenced construction of one of their first stores in South Australia, Robinson Rd, Seaford Heights.

As well as property planning, ALDI aims to understand the unique needs of South Australian shoppers.

“The commencement of store construction is an exciting step forward. We’re finding South Australian shoppers are becoming more and more curious about what we have to offer,” said Mr. Jakupec.

“Everything we do at ALDI is designed to help Australian shoppers live richer lives for less. We’re keen to show South Australians the benefits ALDI has to offer not only their wallets but also their lifestyle.”

Each of ALDI’s South Australian stores will support 15-20 employees, providing career opportunities for local residents. ALDI hopes the new stores will help reinvigorate customer flow to retail precincts and boost supply opportunities for local manufacturers as well as more opportunities for other local suppliers to partner with them.
