For International Women’s Day, Wine Victoria has announced a bursary that will help a woman working in Victoria’s wine industry to attain a qualification designed for people in upper leadership positions. Valued at $9,500, the initiative will cover the cost of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course for the successful candidate.

“For International Women’s Day, Wine Victoria recognises the importance of capability building for leadership roles and is providing a bursary for a female working in the Victorian wine industry,” said a Wine Victoria spokesperson in a media release

The AICD Company Directors Course is designed to help directors understand their roles and responsibilities at a more comprehensive level, along with enhancing attendees’ boardroom performance.

The bursary was intentionally announced on Friday 8 March as a reflection of Wine Victoria’s ongoing support for International Women’s Day.

“It’s a day to celebrate achievements and it’s also a day to recognise that there’s still more to be done to close the gender pay gap, to increase ratios of women in leadership roles and raise awareness on how to provide flexible and supportive working environments for all women to thrive,” said Stephanie Duboudin, CEO at Wine Victoria.

The bursary also bolsters the Wine Victoria pillar of ‘capability and leadership.’

“We are committed to leveraging opportunities to grow and develop the capabilities of females that work within our industry so that we can empower them to build a long term future in the industry and have clear pathways and support to move into leadership roles,” said Wine Victoria.

Applications are open now and close on March 22. The successful applicant will be chosen by a Wine Australia selection panel. From there, they will be able to start the Company Directors Course either in-person in Melbourne or online at any point within a 12 month period.

Only one bursary has been made available through the current initiative.
