The winners of the 2021 Perth Airport Accommodation Awards for Excellence were revealed at the Devil’s Lair Gala Ball on Monday evening.

AHA (WA) CEO Bradley Woods said the awards were a fitting way to celebrate Western Australia’s hotels after a challenging 18 months.

“These awards are a way of recognising excellence within WA’s accommodation industry and this year it was particularly important to reward the extraordinary effort that our industry has made throughout the pandemic,” Mr Woods said.

“Despite the challenges the industry has faced, we have seen business continue to strive for and reach new levels of excellence across Perth and regional WA.”

The Ritz-Carlton, Perth won the top award for three categories including the most prestigious award of the night for Western Australia Best Accommodation Hotel.

The hotel also won the Hotel Bar Award for Songbird bar which recently launched a cocktail menu inspired by its namesake, and the Hotel Wine List Award for Hearth Restaurant, famed for celebrating the finest local suppliers and winemakers. The hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Li Ann Loo, was highly commended in the Hotel Executive Level Manager Award.

“We are delighted and grateful to be recognised by the AHA WA for these award categories. This is a testament to the dedication of our Ladies and Gentlemen in providing exceptional service and experiences worthy of the WA Best Accommodation Hotel category”, said Dario Orsini General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Perth

Despite the ongoing skills shortage being faced by many venues in WA, Mr Woods said that the hospitality industry was well placed to bounce back in a COVID-vaxxed world.

“The staff working in hotels and hospitality venues across the state are outstanding ambassadors for WA and everyone is looking forward to welcoming international guests when borders reopen,” said Mr Woods.

Mr Woods added “Last night we also paid tribute to the nine state quarantine hotels for keeping Western Australians safe during COVID-19, through the AHA Service to Australia Awards.

“Those delivering hotel quarantine services have been extraordinary and staff within these hotels have made huge sacrifices while working in stressful environments.”
