Vanguard Luxury Brands has announced an exclusive distribution partnership in Australia with Whyte & Mackay, the world’s fifth-largest producer of scotch.
The new partnership marks a major development for Vanguard's whisky portfolio, positioning it as a major player in the single malt space moving forwards.
“Vanguard has always championed bringing the best brands to the best bars and the addition of Whyte & Mackay to our portfolio only further bolsters this vision,” said Michael Cox, Head of Sales at Vanguard Luxury Brands.
“We could not be more thrilled at the opportunity to solidify our role in the single malt space with these highly sought after products and continue our mission to shape premium drinks culture in Australia.”
Director of Developing Markets at Whyte & Mackay Mike Southgate added that “this is a very exciting time for Whyte & Mackay as our exceptional portfolio of single malts is outperforming across global markets. We believe that Vanguard’s expertise coupled with the scale of Lion, can truly engage the Australian consumer as we bring our ambitious single malt whisky plans to life.”
Since its 1844 establishment, Whyte & Mackay has developed to become one of the most important scotch whisky producers. It has also been experiencing significant momentum over recent years, including being recognised by the IWSR as being the fastest growing Single Malt owner globally from 2019 to 2022.
From now on, Vanguard will be exclusively responsible for importing single malt scotch whisky brands such as The Dalmore, Jura, Fettercairn and Tamnavulin, alongside other Whyte & Mackay brands such as Harveys Bristol Cream, and Glayva, taking over from Amber Beverages who handled Whyte & Mackay's Australian distribution for the past 15 years.
"After 15 years of collaboration with Amber Beverages, this decision marks a strategic move for both respective businesses," said Fraser Russell, Whyte & Mackay’s Australia Area Manager.
“We are sincerely grateful to Patrick and the Amber Beverage team for the long, supportive history we have shared together and wish them success for the future.”
