Somersby is making the warmer months a little sweeter with the launch of two new flavours: Watermelon and Low Carb cider.

The Lower Carb cider is Apple cider-flavoured at its core and comes in bottle and can pack format. It contains 30% less carbs and 30% less sugar compared to its Somersby Apple Original sibling and is part of the ‘better for you’ option, developed by the Somersby team.

“We’ve closely followed the growth of the ‘better for you’ category over the last twelve months and had fantastic discussions with consumers about developing an offer in this space for Australia’s number one cider brand being Somersby,” said Michael Edmonds, General Manager of Marketing at Asahi Premium Beverages.

Following the success of Sommersby Blackberry cider, Asahi has introduced a second fruity flavour – Watermelon – to the mix. The light pink beverage combines a blend of apple and botanical aromas.

“New Somersby Watermelon has been the surprise of the summer, and really compliments our range. It’s fruity and refreshing and really evokes the feeling of summer,” Edmonds added.

Somersby cider won Fan Favourite of the Year at the 2018 Australian Drinks Awards, determined through a nationally representative consumer survey of 4000 respondents. The top gong was awarded to the brand that scored highest across metrics that included awareness, trial, regular consumption and on being identified as a ‘brand I like to be seen with’.

The entire Somersby range, including these two new additions can be found at leading liquor stores including Dan Murphy’s, BWS, Liquorland, First Choice and other independent stores.
