A Queensland pub will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most beers on tap this weekend.

The Prince Alfred Hotel in Ipswich is serving more than 130 beers from Dainton Brewing on Saturday in its Tap’d bar. Among the crafty flavours on offer will be pizza, Skittle, passionfruit, cherry and mocha beers.

Beer taps will be stationed around the hotel for the World’s Biggest Ever Tap Takeover.

The pub is well known for its craft beer focus and even has a cicerone, a certified beer server, Tim Rule.

“We want to give people the opportunity to try things they don’t normally get to try,” he told News Corp“Some of this stuff has been made and made once only.”

According to Rule, the current world record holder for a tap takeover by one brewery is Dark Horse Brewery from Michigan, US.

It has taken the Dainton team almost four months, at a rate of 10 beers a week, to brew all the beers for the event.

Dan Dainton told Brews News it’s taken a lot work but that it’s been a good challenge.

“They’ve all been hand kegged and they’ve all been in their own little fermenter, there’s been a lot of time and effort that’s gone into recipe development and experimentation,” he said. “But it’s been great, we’ve been able to play around even more so than what we normally do, which is a lot.”
