New Barossa venue to champion small batch winemaking

The new Barossa Valley destination funded by eight of the region’s family-owned winemakers, Artisans of the Barossa, will open next week.

Backed by John Duval Wines, Spinifex Wines, Purple Hands Winery, Lienert Vineyards, The Chaffey Bros, Schwarz Wine Co, Hobbs of Barossa Ranges and Sons of Eden, the venue is intended to promote their wines and raise awareness of the region’s exciting small batch winemaking scene. 

Artisans of Barossa spokesperson Howard Duncan said, “Being able to showcase our wines in our own home, alongside exceptional food in a beautiful setting, is something we’ve been working on for nearly 5 years. Our aim was always to bring something new to the experience of enjoying Barossa wine, and we’re excited about what we’re about to deliver.

“We are moving beyond the tasting bar as the central focus of the wine experience and want to present Barossa wine any way you like – the range and depth of experience visitors will enjoy at Artisans’ new home will be unmatched.”

Located at Kroemer’s Crossing in Tanunda, Artisans of Barossa will host wine tastings and dining. Later in the year the on-site store,DelikatESSEN, will open stocked with premium Barossa and South Australian produce. 

“The art of winegrowing and winemaking is what has made the Barossa a household name around the world and we fully intend to hero what the small producers of this region are capable of alongside the very best in seasonal and local produce,” Mr Duncan said.

Artisans of Barossa is the latest venture from the group of eight families who have been collaborating since 2005 to promote the region. The cellar door to the east of Tanunda which ran from 2011-2018 and Vino Lokal Wine Bar & Wine Room in Tanunda which opened in early 2019.

Artisans of Barossa will open on Friday, 1 October, with construction well underway on site. The restaurant will focus on fresh, local produce and flavours designed specifically to complement the wine list.
