Little Creatures celebrates 18th birthday with new craft beer

Little Creatures is marking its ‘coming of age’ with a new birthday brew – “The Wonder Beers”.

The brewery decided to celebrate the occasion by reimagining its flagship Pale Ale.

Russell Gosling, Head Brewer at Little Creatures Fremantle, said the creation of “The Wonder Beers” started with the team asking themselves what a Pale Ale would look like if the brewery had started in 2018.

“Our first thought was, who knows?” he said. “But then we started to think more about some of the current trends we
are seeing in brewing. We used two malts – our standard Pale Malt and Redback Malt, a new one from New Zealand – as well as a new varietal of New Zealand hops, Hort 4337.”

“Given the current trend of juicy Pale Ales in the US, we also added Burlington Ale, a yeast which is taking over the craft beer scene right now. We figured our birthday was a great opportunity to give it a go.

“The end result retained many of the hallmarks that make our current Pale Ale great, so we called it ‘The Wonder Beers’ as a reference to the much loved 80s show ‘The Wonder Years’ and the fact that there’s no other way to describe 18 years of Little Creatures than totally wonderful.”

“The Wonder Beers will be available on tap at Little Creatures Fremantle and Geelong.

The brewery also has a calendar of birthday events at its Fremantle and Geelong breweries, which kick off on November 2 and run through until December 21.

Both the Fremantle and Geelong breweries will host weekend long celebrations during WA Beer Week with live music, live entertainment, tasty food and delicious beer with the Creatures crew.
