De Bortoli Wines are celebrating the 40th year of its famous and iconic golden drop Noble One Botrytis Semillon, with an exclusive Limited Edition. The 40th Anniversary Limited Edition comes with a specially selected vintage from each of the last four decades, which showcases the indulgence that is Noble One.

Only 40 Limited Editions were curated and autographed by Darren De Bortoli, who first pioneered the production of Noble One in 1982.

Many believed that such a wine could not be produced in Australia, however Mr De Bortoli noticed that the conditions in the Riverina region were ideal for sweet white wine.

The long warm days interspersed with showers of rain and heavy morning dews during Autumn, are nearly the ideal conditions for botrytis cinerea mould (known as Noble Rot). The Noble Rot is what produces this intensely sweet wine.

Since then, Noble One has set the benchmark for premium sweet white wines in Australia, and the world.

As it stands, Noble One has been awarded over 182 trophies and 505 gold medals, with every vintage winning multiple awards.

The Noble One 40th Anniversary Limited Edition includes the 1984, 1993, 2004 and 2018 vintages, each with their own distinct character. The winemaking of Noble One is depends heavily the right humidity at the right time for the botrytis to work its magic.

In the 1990s, after trying varying oaks, the winery shifted to fully imported Seguin Moreau French oak barriques stored in temperature controlled conditions, to reduce possible oxidation during the summer months. These changes resulted in a full bodied rich and luscious wine.

In the 2000s, De Bortoli began keeping a portion unoaked to blend with a portion matured in barrel to add some fruitfulness and freshness to the blend, whilst still maintaining the iconic Noble One style.

Only 40 units of Noble One 40th Anniversary Limited Edition’s are available, all exclusively from DeBortoli’s online store. Register your interest here.
