South East Queensland’s lockdown of eleven LGA’s has been extended until 4.00pm Sunday, 8 August with 16 new locally acquired cases announced on Thursday. And the lockdown in New South Wales has now been extended, encompassing Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Hunter region which will lockdown for the next week

With the number of people who commute between Sydney and Newcastle, Novacastrians have commented that they are surprised to have dodged lockdown for so long.

Rolly de With, President AHA NSW Newcastle Hunter said, “While obviously this is not news any of us wanted to hear, the last thing we want to see in the Hunter is an extended lockdown like the Greater Sydney area is going through right now.

“We recently saw a similar snap seven-day lockdown recently in Orange – with businesses re-opened after seven days – and hopefully that will be the case here.”

The Hunter’s hospitality workforce is made up of more than 15,000 staff as well as associated industry operators and staff.

In response to last week’s extension of the Greater Sydney lockdown which will run at least until the end of August, Lion has extended the keg returns process to any venues who have kegs reaching their best before date within this period

The brewer wrote to more than a thousand of its customers late last week to advise them of the news.
