‘The Golden Rule’ is mixologist Adam Dow’s bespoke Bacardi cocktail and the one that has secured him a place in the grand final of the Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition.

Dow is one of 8 contenders who will compete in the virtual contest, streaming in the Grand Final Facebook livestream on Thursday, 1 July at 1.30am (AEST).

With judges based in London, the top 8 will compete for the title of Bacardi Legacy Global Champion.

As finalists prepared to put forward their original Bacardi Legacy cocktails to the world in Miami last May, the week-long event could not go ahead due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am very glad to be through to the next round – this competition has been a long time coming!” said Adam Dow whose day job is Ivy Head of Bars at Merivale.

“Of course, I wish this was happening in Miami but the team running Bacardi Legacy could not have made it easier for us. Everybody’s video presentation was obviously going to be very polished so finding ways to differentiate myself from the other contestants was key.

“One of the biggest things about Bacardi Legacy Global Finals is the opportunity to meet other competitors and also wider members of La Gran Familia – and I can honestly say that Bacardi have preserved this even whilst conducting the competition virtually.”

Dow continues, “I am relishing the chance to spread by Legacy to an incredibly talented and large group of hospitality professionals.”
