ALH Hotels, with former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page’s Heart of the Nation charity, are working together to ensure the availability of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at more than 350 of its establishments across the country.
The initiative follows the successful deployment of AEDs in all Dan Murphy’s stores nationwide.
The joint effort aims to boost cardiac arrest survival rates through training, education, and facilitating swift access to these life-saving devices.
Paul Burrows, the Head of Endeavour Build, emphasized the significance of preparedness for emergencies within the hospitality industry.
“The deployment of AEDs through the ALH Hotels network is a proactive step to ensure that we are prepared to respond effectively to people suffering a cardiac arrest,” Burrows said.
“We believe that by having these devices readily available, we are better placed to respond in critical situations.”
Greg Page expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with ALH Hotels for this endeavour and emphasized the user-friendliness of AEDs in cardiac emergencies. He said the ease of the devices allows untrained individuals to respond quickly and effectively to help a person in the event of an emergency.
““All you need to do is turn it on, and it will read the patient’s heart rhythm. It talks to you and tells you what to do.
“The best thing is they do not cause any harm to the patient or the person using the device so you don’t need to be afraid to use one.”
Page highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to enhance AED visibility, commending ALH for prominently marking the entrances to their venues to ensure passers by are aware of the presence of AEDs on-site.
As part of the AED rollout, several initiatives have been introduced to maximize device effectiveness. These include measures to enhance AED access and visibility, as well as training programs for staff to assist in emergency situations.
