Yalumba has released two of its most anticipated wines from its Rare and Fine collection this week.

The wines include Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz 2012 (RRP $60) and Yalumba The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 ($54).

In addition, Yalumba will be releasing Yalumba The Octavius Shiraz 2009 ($110) and Yalumba The Virgilius Viognier 2013 ($46) on March 17, both also from the Rare and Fine collection.

The Rare and Fine collection is Yalumba’s most prestigious range, only featuring its best wines, produced when the viticulture and winemaking for the wine comes together perfectly.

Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz 2012

Almost blood red in colour. Notes of currants and cranberries, plum compote and black cherries, as well as a touch of cedar, leafy herbs and powdery black spices. The expression of this wine is as restrained as it is muscular. Richly layered with an umami earthiness underneath. Cellar for 15 years plus.

Yalumba The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bright berry and plum fruit notes with the typical sea-spray tang of The Menzies. A full-bodied palate and rich opening with plush red fruits. Lengthy emery tannin finish.

Yalumba The Octavius Shiraz 2009

Dark and brooding fruits and spices of plums, cloves, coffee and chocolate on the nose, which lead to subtle aromatics of violets, cherries and raspberries. A wine of depth and richness, with generous plum fruit sweetness. Long fine grainy tannin finish. Cellar for ten years plus.

 Yalumba The Virgilius Viognier 2013

Aromas of white peaches, apricots and ginger, which follow through onto the palate. Unctuous and complex, while restrained.
