Women in Hospitality will hold a Q&A session with four of Sydney’s talented females in distilling and brewing next week.

On October 22, Mem Hemmings, Group Beverage Manager of the Three Blue Ducks group, will lead a Q&A session with four panellists from the distilling and brewing world at Brix Distillers, Surry Hills.

Focusing on the art of beer and rum, this all-star panel is made of Sam Stefani of Brix Distillers, Ally Ayres of Karu Distillery, Samara Füss of Philter Brewing and Caitlin Hanson-Waid of 4 Pines Brewing. The stellar line-up will talk all things hops, grains, wheat and sugarcane, including what it takes to stay creative while pushing the boundaries in the industry.

James Christopher, Owner Brix Distillers, said: “After being open for 12 months, we have worked out that Distilling and Brewing is such a blokey world. So, after we hired Sam, our Assistant Distiller, we were inspired to get a bunch of female makers together to showcase the positive steps the industry is starting to take. And who better to team up with than the great crew at Women In Hospitality?”

After the Q&A session, the speakers and WOHO representatives will be available to chat and network with guests as you sip on creations from each of the brands.

A night of education and fun, WOHO Founder Julia Campbell believes the event aligns with Women in Hospitality’s mission to inspire women in the industry to have the confidence to back themselves in pursuing a career in what their passionate about.

Campbell said: “It is an opportunity to highlight and hear from female brewers and distillers at varying points of their career, about how they made it through the ups and the downs to get them to where they are today. All WOHO events welcome both men and women for a chance to learn, network and be inspired about our industry!”
