Jo Andrew has been appointed Independent Chair of Wine Grape Growers Australia (WGGA) today.

Mr. Brian Walsh, Chair of Wine Australia welcomed the appointment, saying: “We look forward to working closely with Ms. Andrew to help achieve our goal of a prosperous Australian grape and wine community.”

Ms. Andrews joins the sector at a time of growing wine exports. In a sign of much needed improvement in profitability for Australian wine, the rate of value growth is currently outpacing volume which increased by five per cent to 734 million litres in the 12 months to 30 September. It’s the strongest rate of growth since 2007.

“We sincerely hope that these encouraging value markers continue to flow through to the vineyard gate, to ensure a vibrant and sustainable wine growing community”, Walsh added.

“At Wine Australia, we will continue to support the grower community through RD&E investments in grape quality and competitiveness, as well as growing the overall market through our marketing initiatives.”

WGGA is a principal partner in Wine Australia activities.
