A former executive of chemicals company Orica and Qantas Airways has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Treasury Wine Estates.

Current CFO Tony Reeves has decided to transition out of his role after several successful years with the company, TWE announced on Thursday. His last day will be January 31, 2016.

Noel Meehan, who most recently was Orica CFO – a position he held for more than eight years – will join TWE on December 1, formally replacing Reeves on January 1 next year.

Based at TWE’s global headquarters in Melbourne, Meehan will lead TWE’s Global Finance and IT functions and will report directly to CEO Michael Clarke.

Prior to Orica, Meehan held a number of senior finance and management roles at Qantas.

“Mr Meehan joins TWE with extensive experience across all aspects of finance in listed companies, including acquisitions, capital raisings and investor relations,” the company said.

“He also has a proven record of growing businesses, financial discipline and improving shareholder returns.”

Clarke said that with the acquisition of Diageo’s US and UK wine businesses due to be integrated into TWE with effect from January 1, now is the perfect time for a new CFO.

“I would like to thank Tony Reeves for his enormous contribution to the business pre and post demerger, and for the personal support and advice he has provided me since joining TWE. I wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”
