Top new releases for festive drinking

There have been so many new releases and launches this week, as party season approaches. Here are just a few of the top drops for festive drinking that we’ve spotted.

McGuigan Wines is entering the alcohol-free market with the launch of McGuigan Zero.

The McGuigan Zero portfolio comprises five de-alcoholised wines; a Shiraz, sparkling, rosé, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

They will be available through leading independents and the Coles Liquor Group from next month, priced at $12 RRP.

Johnnie Walker Game of Thrones limited edition whiskies

Johnnie Walker has announced its two new limited edition whiskies, A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire, will be available from late October.

The limited edition whiskies are inspired by the two great Houses who face off in the final series of Game of Thrones – House Stark, represented by the fearsome Direwolf, and House Targaryen, represented by the fire-breathing Dragon.

Johnnie Walker A Song of Iceand A Song of Fire limited edition whiskies will both be available from liquor stores nationwide from late October, at $69.99 for 700ml.

Little Creatures Long Days

Long Days is the latest seasonal release to come out of the Little Creatures Brewery, created for summer sipping as the weather heats up.

Designed to give craft beer lovers bold flavours while also catering to the growing demand for sessionability and lower alcohol options, the brew is a mid-strength IPA with copious amounts of Simcoe hops to give a passionfruit, citrussy flavour, balanced with malt characters and a subtle sweet caramel finish.

Long Days is available on tap at Little Creatures breweries and select venues, and in store from leading retailers around the country with an RRP of $58/24-case and $19/6-pack.

This festive season, Cointreau is offering consumers the opportunity to be the mixologist at gatherings with a Christmas gift pack.

The Christmas gift pack includes a jigger with a 700ml Cointreau bottle – only available at independent liquor retailer stores nationally, while stocks last.

It’s available at all leading retailer stores from $60.

Bass & Flinders brandy

To mark its 10th anniversary, artisanal distillery Bass & Flinders Distillery is launching a limited-edition brandy blend, in collaboration with renowned French Cognac house Normandin-Mercier.

The 330-bottle, single-release will be the world’s first French-Australian brandy blend.

Anniversary Cuvée is retailing for $250 for the 700ml bottles in market and will be available for purchase on the Bass & Flinders Distillery website.

Gery Goose La Vanille

Australians are being given the chance to try Grey Goose La Vanille for a limted time.

“For years, bartenders have been telling me about their creative cocktail recipes inspired by Grey Goose La Vanille when it first launched 15 years ago,” said Joe McCanta, Grey Goose Global Ambassador.

“We’re excited that it will once again be back on shelves and behind bars for a limited time and look forward to giving the bartending community a chance to resurrect some of those bygone recipes this holiday season,”

Grey Goose La Vanille will be available exclusively at hand selected bars for a limited time only from November.

Flor de Cana

Flor de Caña is the super-premium rum brand from Nicaragua with one of the largest aged rum reserves in the world, and one of the first global spirit brands to be Fair Trade certified.

A 30-year-old ultra-luxury rum, the oldest release from the brand to date, has arrived in Australia. With only a limited number of bottles available worldwide, the bottles are valued at over $2500 each.

The rum was launched in Sydney at Restaurant Hubert for the very first time in the Southern Hemisphere, and only the third global launch, having been previously launched in Miami and Milan.
