Hot overseas trend are leading the releases this week, with a rosé cider, rye whiskey and glow-in-the-dark label among the drinks that caught Drinks Trade’s eye.

Blush Rosé is the latest fruit infusion from Swedish cider brand Rekorderlig to hit the market, just in time for summer.

It features flavours of red berries and a dash of sweet peach, while providing the dry finish of a classic rosé wine.

Rosé cider had ‘drink of summer’ status in the northern hemisphere and sales of Strongbow Blossom Rosé Cider, released last year, have been booming.

Created with the Australian palate and conscious consumer in mind,
Rekorderlig Blush Rosé will be available in a 4 x 330ml pack from Dan Murphy’s, Liquorland and First Choice.

It is distributed in Australia exclusively by Coca-Cola Amatil.

Four Pillars is taking its Sticky Carpet national. The gin was originally created for the re-opening of the famous Hotel Esplanade in Melbourne’s St Kilda in September 2018 and is now available to purchase.

The gin has a deliberate pub feel thanks to the botanicals used in the distilling process. Four Pillars co-founder and distiller, Cam Mackenzie said: “Rather than just using our base spirit we have added a few litres of a local roasted dark stout (Watt’s River) to add some malty, toasted character.”

Four Pillars Sticky Carpet Gin is available online at www.fourpillarsgin.com.au or at the Four Pillars Distillery Door for RRP $85.

Melbourne-based The Gospel Distillers has announced the launch of new rye whiskey range – the first of its kind to use 100% Australian ingredients and be hand-crafted and produced at scale.

Produced using single-source unmalted rye from the Murray Mallee region in South Australia, it follows a growing trend for the uptake of rye-based spirits being consumed in Australia, which is now the second-largest bourbon market in the world.

The Gospel Solera Rye (42.5% ABV) is now available in trade and distributed by Vanguard Luxury Brands.

The Gospel Rye Whiskey (45% ABV) is set for release in early 2020.

Bacardi Superior

Finally, this one’s not available in Australia, but we thought it was an interesting innnovation … Bacardí Superior has created a new black and orange jack-o-lantern label for the US market that glows in the dark to celebrate Halloween.

“Hitting liquor store shelves nationwide starting October 1, the iconic white rum is being repackaged in ghoulishly good fun for the holiday, making it the perfect party favor, pregame décor or spooky bar cart addition,” a rep for the brand told Delish.
