Melbourne whiskey distillery The Gospel has released its first Single Cask Whiskey (Cask #35).

The Gospel Single Cask has already attracted fans among whiskey alumni who’ve tasted pre-release samples.

International whiskey critic and author Dave Broom (thewhiskeymanual.uk) rated the whiskey 4.5 out of 5 and noted; “…it has an immediate ridiculous confidence to it – but not in an aggressive way. … A real discovery.”

Australian whiskey personality Dan Wooley (Highwayman Whisky) said: “This is, by far, the best Australian Rye whiskey I’ve ever tasted and so encouraging to see a whiskey of this quality being produced here. Intense marzipan with a hint of wet leather on the nose. The palate is filled with hazelnuts and cherry liqueur finishing with hints of subtle allspice and lashings of brown sugar. Bravo to The Gospel, Keep up the great work!”

The limited release has an RRP of $130.

“We make whiskey to drink and enjoy and although this release is very special, we wanted it to remain affordable,” said Andrew Fitzgerald – Co-Founder of The Gospel Whiskey. “After all, I can’t think of a better time to enjoy a glass of whiskey then right now”.

The Gospel Solera Rye

Available from August 5, the release will join the brand’s core range, which includes both The Gospel Solera Rye and Straight Rye Whiskey and is the precursor to an ongoing limited release series from the brand.

Due to the limited bottle quantity of Single Cask #35 a limited number of retailers have been allocated stock. These include Blackheart and Sparrows in Victoria, The Oak Barrel in NSW, Craft Wine Store in Queensland, Edinburg Hotel and Cellars in South Australia, and Copper and Oak in Western Australia. Whiskey and Alement in Melbourne will also be stocking sampling packs.

Online shoppers can also find the release on The Gospel Whiskey’s distillery website.
