Pepperjack has taken out ‘Best Wine of Show for the second year running at The Great Australian Red awards.

The TWE wine also won the Best Shiraz Dominant Blend trophy with Pepperjack Certified Shiraz Cabernet 2016.

Further adding to the TWE trophy cabinet, Wolf Blass was named Best Winery in Show, Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Shiraz 2016 named Best Cabernet Sauvignon Dominant Blend and Wolf Blass Grey Label Cabernet Shiraz 2016 named Best Wine in the $25 – $60 price point.

Now in its 13th year, The Great Australian Red is a wine competition created by globally renowned wine critics Tyson Stelzer and Matthew Jukes, designed to highlight the blend that defines Australia: Shiraz Cabernet.

“It is remarkable that any wine could win The Great Australian Red two years back to back,” said Tyson Stelzer. “All the more incredible with the third-highest entry count in 13 years of the competition, judged by a completely different set of 13 judges to last year’s line up!

“Wolf Blass has been one of the most successful exhibitors across the 13 years of the competition, and was the winner of The Riedel Trophy for Winery of Show in 2014 and 2012.

This year, Wolf Blass narrowly beat Jacob’s Creek, St Hugo and Pepperjack to take out The Riedel Trophy for Winery of Show” he added.

Big year for Pepperjack

Pepperjack also recently took out Best Emerging Brand – Wine (Red) at The Australian Drinks Awards.

Emerging Brand of the Year is the brand that is perceived most by consumers as ‘gaining in popularity’.

Australia’s top 200 brands were automatically entered in Emerging Brand of the Year, with the winners determined through a nationally representative consumer survey of 4000 respondents.

“The Emerging Brand of the Year award recognises the status of a brand as being ‘one to watch’ in its drinks category in the eyes of the consumer, and signals that the brand is increasing in prominence within the category,” said Chris Papadimitriou from Thrive Research, which led the judging process.

“As such, winning the Emerging Brand of the Year award is a significant accolade, particularly as it provides the potential for brands with a smaller presence to be recognised for their growing popularity.”

The Australian Drinks Awards are an initiative by The Drinks Association to celebrate excellence in the drinks industry. The 2018 awards were held at the Ivy Ballroom, Sydney, on September 13.

Pepperjack Certified Shiraz Cabernet is $29.99 RRP and available from Dan Murphy’s and BWS. Wolf Blass Black Label is RRP $129.99 and Grey Label Cabernet Shiraz RRP $44.99 and available in fine wine retailers nationally.
