A new initiative is offering Aussies the chance to thank essential services workers by sending them a four-pack of craft beer and a message of support.

The Good Beer Co – a Brisbane-based social enterprise – has teamed up with independent craft breweries from across the country for the ‘A Good Beer Always Helps’ campaign.

The Good Beer Co Founder James Grugeon said: “The good people working in our essential ser-vices have always been there for us and right now they are who are keeping our country going. ‘A Good Beer Always Helps’ is about showing them how much we appreciate them.

“There are so many essential workers on the front line – nurses, doctors, health administration, pharmacists, allied health, ward assistants and cleaners, police, fire and ambos, aged care facility and home care workers; school teachers; supermarket workers; and many other providing frontline services right now and they need to know we appreciate everything they are doing for us.”

Australians who donate a four-pack to an essential services worker will also help a local independent craft brewery in the state where they live, with many doing it tough right now after social distancing regulations closed their taprooms and bars.

The independent craft breweries participating include: Newstead Brewing Co (QLD), Sparkke (SA – Whitmore staff pictured main), Modus Operandi Brewing (NSW) Capital Brewing Co (ACT), Stomping Ground Brewing Co (Vic), Otherside Brewing Co (WA) and Van Diemen Brewing (Tas) and, if people don’t drink alcohol, Sobah Australia’s first non-alcoholic craft beer company.

Sparkke Co-Founder Kari Allen said: “Sparkke is a for purpose beer company, so when James approached us and asked us if we would like to be involved we jumped at the chance.

“To be able to say thank you in a tangible way to health workers is really important right now. Yes, we’re doing it tough at the moment – but being part of an effort to express our gratitude to the people keeping us safe, is really good for our morale. And of course, the sales support is just so valuable to us.”

‘A Good Beer Always Helps’ is also working with unions and other organisations that represent essential services workers to make sure the messages of gratitude – and a few beers – reach them.

“We’re asking Australians to show our essential services workers we love their work, by shouting them a good beer. It’s a win-win because we’ll also be supporting local independent craft breweries too,” James said.

“We hope everyone who can afford to will get behind A Good Beer Always Helps and help us to share the campaign so it’s a big success.”
