Melbourne Cocoa and Stomping Ground Brewing Co have collaborated to create a Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout and Chocolate Bar in celebration of World Chocolate Day on July 7.
Jeremy Kennedy-Wilson, Co-Founder of Melbourne Cocoa said: “We approached Stomping Ground to not only create a brew that incorporates Melbourne Cocoa milk chocolate, but for our chocolatiers to also create a chocolate block using the same ingredients found in the brew.
“In the end our chocolatiers teamed up with the brewers to create a delicious Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout and Chocolate Bar that will be sold as a pair.”
Melbourne Cocoa’s chocolatiers experimented for a number of days to create a Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout Bar that complemented the brew. It is described as an exceptionally smooth, creamy expression of milk chocolate with a combination of 70% milk chocolate, Stomping Ground brewing malts and caramel toffee.
To achieve the full intensity of the chocolate tasting it is recommended it be paired with Stomping Ground‘s stout.
Stomping Ground’s Head Brewer Ashur Hall said: “The idea behind the Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout was to double down on the milk chocolate character. We added 50kg of cocoa powder and 40kg of cocoa liquor from Melbourne Cocoa to the brew so it’s very chocolatey. Lactose, a milk-based sugar, has made the beer sweet, fuller, and – along with carbonating the beer with nitro for our first time – deliciously creamy.”
The Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout cans (355ml, 6.3% ABV) and chocolate bar are available to purchase online.
The Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout cans will also be available from July 6, 2020 at selected independent bottle shops throughout Melbourne and on tap at Stomping Ground Brewery & Beer Hall in Collingwood from July 7.
