Spring brings new gin distillery to Kings Cross

Highly anticipated and beautifully decked out, the Kings Cross Distillery has opened just in time for the October long weekend.

Located between Macleay Street and Llankelly Place, Kings Cross Distillery is housed in what was a 1960s speakeasy and illegal gambling den. A central feature of the space is, of course, the distillery’s pot-still, affectionately known as “Miss Pottsy”, and it is fun to watch her work her magic, distilling KXD’s signature gin right there on the premises.

The space is gorgeously appointed with plush dark green leather booths and gold fittings juxtaposed with brick walls and polished concrete floors and walls. There are plenty of nooks and hideaway spaces for those seeking privacy or guests can enjoy a cocktail out in the open at the front bar.

Director Odelia Potts said: “Our team at Kings Cross Distillery is so excited to introduce Sydneysiders to the wonders of this magical venue and the stories behind our inspiration, which are reflected in the gins made here onsite in the heart of the Potts Point/Kings Cross precinct.”

The cocktail menu boasts an array of wittily named– and delicious – gin cocktails including the Impeachment with smokey peach flavours, the Sin and Tonique and Pepperation Makes Perfect. The wine list has been created by Ben Moechtar (Certified Sommelier, former judge of the Australian Wine List of the Year and three times consecutive winner of the (RCA) Wine List of the Year Competition). The distillery also boasts a range of whiskies from the Distiller’s Whisky Library.

An unique Sydney experience not to be missed.
