A new wine range that helps pets in need has been unleashed on the market. Sit Stay Society consists of half-bottle wines, with 50 cents from every bottle sold donated to PetRescue free adoption programs and services.

“We are thrilled to have Sit Stay Society wines come onboard to raise funds for PetRescue,” said Vickie Davy, PetRescue co-founder and joint CEO.

“With 100,000 pets still killed in pounds and shelters in Australia every year, there’s so much work to be done in this space, and funding is crucial to impact.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of Sit Stay Society wines to help us realise our vision of an Australia where every pet is safe, respected and loved. And if you can enjoy a wine and help pets at the same time, we say cheers to that!”

The wines are a joint initiative by BWS and Dan Murphy’s, which will be retailing the wines exclusively.

“Our customers love wine and many of them are passionate about animals as well,” said Chris Mattes, Head of Wine at BWS. “It’s nice to be able to give them the chance to support a great cause while enjoying delicious wines at the same time,”

The Sit Stay Society labels are homages to popular dog breeds; Toby’s Shiraz Tempranillo Clare Valley 2017 is adorned by an illustration of a French Bulldog, while Max’s Cabernet Malbec Clare Valley 2018 has a King Charles Cavalier sketch.

“We are planning on expanding the range with further breeds and wine varieties this year, including white wine and rosé options,” Mattes added.

The wines come in 375ml bottle sizes (half size bottles), a wine trend that’s gathering pace in Australia.

“If you open a full bottle of wine you should ideally drink it within a few days to avoid the worst effects of oxidation, so a half bottle is the perfect solution for those wanting to avoid unnecessary waste,” he added.

“Our hope is for year one is to sell over 100,000 bottles; donating $50,000 to PetRescue.”

Sit Stay Society Toby’s Shiraz Tempranillo Clare Valley 2017 and Sit Stay Society Max’s Cabernet Malbec Clare Valley 2018 are available now and retail for $10 per bottle at BWS, and are also available at Dan Murphy’s.
