Bundaberg Rum has teamed up with one of rugby league’s elite, Johnathan Thurston, to create a limited edition rum.
Five years in the making, the limited-edition batch has been unveiled to celebrate the career of the legendary NRL player following his retirement last year.
The specially crafted rum was designed and approved by Johnathan Thurston himself at Bundy Rum distillery, and features rounded notes of oak, vanilla and fruitcake, aged in bourbon barrels.
Bundaberg Rum operations and brand manager Duncan Littler told Bundaberg News Mail that Thurston was highly involved in the creation of the blend.
“The one we’re releasing is the final blend he hand-picked himself,” he said. “He came down and met our blending experts. There is no other rum like it.”
Diehard footy fans travelled from across Queensland to meet Johnathan Thurston when he visited Bundaberg to launch the commemorative rum.
They met the former State of Origin legend at a special event organised for those who pre-ordered the limited edition rum.
Pre-orders of this collaboration from two of Queensland’s greatest have sold out, but from May 13, bottles will be available at the Bundaberg Rum distillery, all major liquor stores across Queensland and online while stocks last.
All bottles are individually numbered. The JT Batch is available for $59.99 for 700ml (ABV 37%) while supplies last.
