Richard Angove was this week inducted into the international society of The Keepers of the Quaich, a moment to celebrate his outstanding commitment to the Scotch whisky industry.

Angove was inducted at the spring banquet held at Blair Castle in Perthshire, Scotland, joining fellow Australian members, including past prime ministers, lauded distillers, whisky experts and the odd whisky journalist.

The Australian chapter is headed up by William Grants & Sons Managing Director, Colin Rochester, himself to be inducted as a Master of the Quaich in the coming autumn banquet.

Angove was recognised for his longstanding dedication to representing Scotch whisky, particularly Glenfarclas, in Australia. The Angove and Grant families have a history that goes back over 30 years with Angove Family Winemakers, and now Vintage House Wine and Spirits, being the official importer of all products in the Glenfarclas range, including the exclusive and limited Family Cask expressions.

Angove told Drinks Trade exclusively that “attending the Keepers of the Quaich ceremony, and indeed visiting Scotland for the first time, was a fantastic experience and to be amongst some legends of the Scotch Whisky world was truly inspiring. The award was one for the entire Angove/Vintage House wine and spirits team who have worked over the decades to build Glenfarclas into such a strong and well-regarded spirit in Australia.”

At the induction ceremony, new keepers are presented with a traditional Scottish drinking vessel, the quaich, and ushered into the Great Hall for the ode to the haggis and an evening of singing, feasting, and the odd dram.

Angove expressed his profound honour upon being inducted into the Keepers of the Quaich. He shared his longstanding passion for Scotch Whisky and his pride in joining a prestigious group dedicated to preserving and promoting its legacy. Richard acknowledged that his recognition was a team effort.

He credited his entire family and the team at Angove Family Winemakers and Vintage House Wine and Spirits for their passion and dedication to Glenfarclas Single Malt Whiskys and Scottish whisky sales in general. He also highlighted the Grant Family’s longstanding relationship with the Angove Family, based on shared business philosophies of long-term brand building and sales growth.

Richard expressed his gratitude to John Grant, Chairman of Glenfarclas, and the entire Angove team for their fantastic work.
