Adelaide Hills winemaker Petaluma has released a new look for its everyday White Label range of wines.
The new labels have been altered to better reflect the Petaluma branding and stand with consistency alongside Yellow Label.
The new White Label bottle now features a more streamlined oval-shaped label with regionality clearly visible and white screwcaps sealing the bottles – now distinct from the Yellow Label range under black screwcap.
The White Label Dry Rosé has also moved to a Riesling-shaped bottle.
Mike Mudge, Petaluma chief winemaker (below), said: “While White Label may have a new look, it is the same, exceptional cool climate wine range. The Petaluma White Label range offers consumers an extremely reliable ‘go-to’ and delicious everyday wine that they can trust.”
The White Label range consists of Petaluma Chardonnay Adelaide Hills 2019; Petaluma Sauvignon Blanc Adelaide Hills 2019; Petaluma Pinot Gris Adelaide Hills 2019; Petaluma Shiraz Adelaide Hills 2017; Petaluma Dry Rosé Coonawarra 2019; and Petaluma Cabernet Sauvignon Coonawarra 2018.
The fruit for all white varietals and Shiraz in Petaluma White Label is sourced from the Adelaide Hills; the coolest climate and highest elevated wine region in South Australia. The grapes for Petaluma Dry Rose and Petaluma Cabernet come from inland, cool-climate wine region with famed terra rossa soil, Coonawarra.
Petaluma fights back after bushfire damage
After a tough end to 2019, Petaluma, like several other Adelaide Hills wineries, sustained significant damage to vineyards and outbuildings after bushfires ripped through the region just before Christmas. Stables that stored vineyard, winery and cellar door equipment were also destroyed. Thankfully, all Petaluma staff were unharmed, and the cellar door and winery facility were spared from the flames.
“Although we will not harvest any Chardonnay or Pinot from our Woodside vineyard due to fire damage, we will be replanting in early spring,” Mudge said.
“We are grateful that the cellar door and winery were relatively untouched by the fires which has meant continued trade for the cellar door, and the winery has been able to process the 2020 vintage.”
The revamped White Label range has an RRP of $29. The Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals will be landing in major and independent retail stores from March 2020, with the Shiraz available from May 2020 and the Rosé from August 2020.
In October 2020, Petaluma will also celebrate its new vintage release of Yellow Label.
