Congratulations to Anneliese Grazioli from Darwin’s Hot Tamale on making it to the top seven in the Global Final of the 2020 Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition.
The final, which took place at Hacienda Patrón, Mexico, last week saw 21 bartenders from around the world tackle challenges that could earn them a spot in the top seven.
The seven (above) were: Giulia Cuccurollo, of Artesian in London; Tobias Linder of Jigger & Spoon, Germany, Switzerland and Austria; Jared Schmidt of Orchard Room, Canada; Jason Hussien Ali of Grand Hyatt Manila; Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia; Sarah Turbett of Oak Standby, New Orleans, US; Willy Park of Alice Cheongdam, Japan and South Korea; and Grazioli from Australia and New Zealand.
Cuccurollo (below), of Artesian in London, was crowned winner of the competition following an impressive final round.
Cuccurullo said: “This entire competition has been a journey I will never forget. I am in awe of all my fellow contestants and the incredible skills that they have showcased throughout the whole competition.
“I feel honoured to be chosen as the global winner with a cocktail that brings together my home away from home, the UK, my origin, Italy, and Mexico, the birthplace of Patrón.
“My cocktail, the Bridge, represents personal stories and bonds and I cannot wait to continue building connections with the help of Patrón Tequila.”
Cuccurullo’s winning cocktail, The Bridge, was a combination of Patrón Silver Tequila, rhubarb cordial, fortified wine blend, tomato water and salt solution.

Cuccurullo shared a room with Grazioli at Hacienda Patrón during the competition, with the Aussie noting that it was “fun and amazing to see my extremely talented, beautiful, funny roommate win!”
“This past week has been making so many honest and true friendships, more than I’ve ever made in one time since being a child,” Grazioli added.
“It’s been about such strong support from everyone. The brand team was behind every single one of us, so involved and excited for this journey we were taking.
“The hosts, literally doing anything we needed and making ours lives that much easier.
“And my fellow ‘competitors’, I truly left with love for every single one.
“And of course, Patrón tequila. I cannot wait to share the knowledge and first hand experience of such a phenomenal distillery, with such true individualism. A @barsofdarwin training will be coming Darwin soon so stay tuned! Thank you to Patrón and Bacardi Australia for everything.”
Hot Tamale noted on Facebook: “Amazing effort Anneliese. We are all so proud of you. Did us ultra proud.”
