Oscars cocktails the stars will be sipping

The who’s who of Hollywood will gather for the 92nd Oscars on February 9 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, before letting their hair down at the Governors Ball and sipping Oscars cocktails .

Tequila Don Julio is the partner of the Governors Ball, the Academy’s official party and mixologist Charles Joly (below, left) has curated a specialty bar experience for the night.

Joly and his team have spent countless hours prepping to curate more than 12,000 specialty Oscars cocktails that will be served throughout the evening, including the When You Have Passion, Nominees’ Negroni, Hollywood Highball, Cinemargarita and The Golden Age.

These unique Oscars cocktails will require 1000 individually manicured orange peels, more than 5000 drops of bitters to balance and aromatize, 3600 hand-peeled and marinated tomatoes, and half a mile of sustainable gold straws that match the statues in the room.

The event will kick off with Tequila Don Julio mini cocktails for attendees who would like to toast the moment before they reach their seats. When You Have Passion features Tequila Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice, agave nectar, passionfruit liqueur and fresh ginger juice.

The Nominees’ Negroni features Tequila Don Julio Añejo, Italian Apéritif, Vermouth blend, a dash of orange bitters and an orange twist for garnish.

The Hollywood Highball features Tequila Don Julio 70, coconut sugar syrup, medium sherry, chilled soda water, a toasted coconut rim and dehydrated pineapple flower filled with pickled blueberries for garnish.

The wines on offer at the awards

Piper-Heidsieck Champagne and Francis Ford Coppola Wines will also be on offer at the Governor’s Ball.

Piper-Heidsieck is the sole Champagne being served during the 92nd Oscars awards season. It’s the sixth year the Champagne House has been a partner of the awards.

The brand is paying tribute to cinema in the Roaring Twenties with a limited-edition magnum, featuring the House’s signature Cuvée Brut, the label will be a replica of the one used during the Prohibition era.

Francis Ford Coppola Winery will premiere two limited edition wines at the 92nd Oscars and Governors Ball, including a 2017 Reserve Chardonnay and 2018 Reserve Pinot Noir. They are bottled with a sleek gold-coloured exterior finish inspired by one of the motion picture industry’s top honours.

Francis Ford Coppola Winery will also be serving its 2018 I Mille Vernaccia, 2019 Sofia Rosé, 2017 Director’s Cut Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 Director’s Cut Chardonnay, and 2016 Eleanor Red Blend wines during this year’s Oscars and at the Governors Ball.
