The Tahona Society Cocktail Competition will return for its second year next week, taking place on Tuesday 14 June at El Loco Excelsior in Surry Hills, Sydney. This year, competitors will be tasked with the challenge of creating their unique cocktail with Olmeca Altos tequila at the centre, in front of Maestro Tequilero (Master Distiller), Mr. Jesús Hernández.

Bartenders will need to prove their mixology mastery to Mr. Hernández, showcasing the versatility of Olmeca Altos tequila in a modern-day cocktail for the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Mexico to visit the home of agave – Jalisco, Mexico. In Mexico, the Australian winner will compete for the chance to be crowned international champion and become a Tahona Society Global Ambassador for one year.

Launched in 2009, Olmeca Altos Tequila was created by a collaboration between leading London bartenders Dre Masso, the late Henry Besant and Jesus Hernandez, with the aim of creating a high quality 100 per cent agave tequila at an affordable price. Olmeca Altos is very proud of the claim that it was created by bartenders for bartenders.

In addition to the local leg of the Tahona Society competition in Sydney, Mr. Hernández will present a dedicated education program in the month of June 2016 in the key cities of Sydney (Mon 13 June), Melbourne (Wed 15 June) and Brisbane (Thurs 16 June).
