Queensland's Beenleigh Distillery has launched Dragon Release Rum, an exclusive and limited-edition blend crafted from a selection of rums aged in barrel for up to eight years.
The release is in tribute to the 2024 Year of the Dragon and lands in individually numbered bottles.
Dragon Release Rum features a palate of rich, buttery, and spiced wood notes that are complex and rounded, resulting in a smooth taste that works for sipping neat.
The limited release is a nod to the spirit of Beenleigh Distillery and the challenges it has withstood, including the devastating floods of 2017 and 2020.
The exclusive launch comes as Beenleigh Distillery wins at the Australian International Rum Awards, when Beenleigh’s Double Cask Rum scored 94 points, clinching the trophy for best Pot and Column Still Rum in addition to winning a Double Gold medal.
Aged for five years with full-bodied flavour, Double Cask Rum is packed full of spiced oak and scorched toffee notes, giving way to honey, oak and lingering florals.
Master-distilled in The Old Copper, a distinctive Copper Pot Still that’s signature shape and style is known as a Vat Still is the only one of its kind in Australia.
"We are humbled to compete and be recognised on the Global Stage once again. This accolade at the Australian International Rum Awards underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in the world of spirits," says Chris Illman, Beenleigh Distillery's Head of Sales & Marketing.
Beenleigh is expanding its offering at its Queensland-based distillery with the upcoming launch of the Distillery Restaurant, a gastro-style culinary venue offering a selection of rums and food to match.
The Dragon Release Rum launches on Friday, 24th November and can be purchased from Beenleigh Rum here. The Double Cask Rum is available via the Beenleigh Rum website, Dan Murphy's, Vintage Cellars, Liquorland and other retailers around the country.
