New drinks releases offer healthier options

Tapping into the mindful drinking trend, an array of healthier options are hitting the shelves for spring.

Angove has introduced Naturalis, a new Certified Organic wine range made exclusively for the independent and on-premise trade.

The wines to be launched under the new Naturalis brand are Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Rose, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

White Claw

Lion has announced the world’s biggest selling alcoholic seltzer, White Claw, will hit Australian shelves on October 12.

Three White Claw flavours – Ruby Grapefruit, Mango and Natural Lime – will be rolled out across retailers and venues Australia-wide. White Claw contains 100 calories and 2 grams of carbohydrates per 330ml can.

It will be available in a four-pack of 330ml cans at an RRP of $23.99 at all good leading retailers.

Kings Cross Distillery gin

Kings Cross Distillery has announced the launch of KXD Garden Island Navy Strength, featuring aphrodisiac ingredients Damiana and Horny Goat Weed.

Damiana is a wild shrub that grows in Mexico, Central America, and the West Indies, which is used to increase sexual desire. Horny Goat Weed boasts similar properties, creating an aphrodisiac cocktail within this new gin. 

The KXD Garden Island Navy Strength also has classic notes of juniper, coriander and cardamom overlaid with heavy perfumes of wild nettles, cut grass, gunpowder green tea, quince and pepper spice.

KXD Garden Island Navy Strength is priced at $165 for a 700ml bottle.

Great Northern Zero

Carlton & United Breweries has launched an alcohol-free version of its Great Northern brand, called Great Northern Zero.

Over the last 12 months alcohol free beer segment in Australia has grown by 191% and during the COVID-19 lockdown period from March to May 2020, alcohol-free beer sales grew by over 600% versus the same period last year according to IRI.

Great Northern Zero will initially be sold only in Queensland and the Northern Territory and stocked in supermarkets, cafes, bars, hotels and bottle shops throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Westward Pinot Noir cask

Just 60 bottles of Westward’s limited edition American Single Malt Pinot Noir Cask Finish are arriving on Australian shores.

Westward Oregon Pinot Noir Cask Finish is made from scratch at our Portland distillery using Pacific Northwest two-row barley, brewed with American pale ale yeast for outstanding flavour, double pot distilled for exceptional character, and matured in 2-char, kiln dried 53-gallon new American oak barrels. Once fully matured, we finished this batch of whiskey for 19 months in French Oak wine casks that had previously held Pinot Noir from Suzor Wines.

The whiskey will be available from The Oak Barrel Sydney and Cambridge Cellars Melbourne.
