A new boutique distributor has opened for business in Australia.

Coined The Pisco People, the distributor is also a wholesaler and online retailer that specialises in importing piscos from South America.

Currently The Pisco People is importing from four South American producers, including Viñasde Oro, Pisco Portón, De Carral and Cuatro G’s. Styles in the portfolio include single variety Quebranta and Italia styles, Acholado – a mix of two or more grape varieties – and the super premium Mosto Verde.

The Pisco People is run by Josie Healy, who has spent the last few years travelling through Peru and Chile to select producers for import. Healy says she the drive behind setting up the company was founded on her passion for the spirit and its opportunity in this market.

“While travelling through South America, particularly Peru, I developed a great passion for their national drink. When I returned to Australia I found it impossible to find the piscos I had enjoyed during my trip and saw an opportunity to introduce the Peruvian spirit to the Australian market”, Healy explains.

“This led to me returning to South America where I spent time sourcing premium brands from bodegas, recognised nationally and internationally for the quality of their pisco.”

To launch, Healy is collaborating with Daniel Monk, award-winning mixologist and manager of Fitzroy’s The Rum Diary, to help get these new piscos out to consumers. In addition, The Pisco People is running a ‘Dare to Pisco – Getaway’ competition, calling on professional bartenders to create their own cocktail ideas. The overall winner awarded an incredible trip to the land of pisco, Peru. For an application to the competition, email info@thepiscopeople.com.au

The Pisco People’s products are now available to purchase online, with prices ranging from $60 to $72.50 exc. GST.
