Merivale has launched an online version of its The Bottle Shop store, featuring an exclusive range of wine, beer and spirits handpicked by the group’s sommeliers.
An extension of the wine retail experience on Palings Lane (below) where guests can locate the wine they enjoyed at any Merivale restaurant, the online bottle shop stocks a range of everyday wines and spirits, plus high-end vintage offerings.
Merivale said the vision for The Bottle Shop was “to create an entirely new online wine experience and offering that is approachable, fun and interactive, taking the ‘stuffiness’ out of wine selection”.
At The Bottle Shop, the knowledgeable staff focus on offering customers a “sommelier experience” when they walk through the doors, with many of the wines also tagged with short descriptions and food pairings. This is echoed online as wine-lovers make their selection based on occasion – ‘Party starters’ – champagne, sparkling and fun wines to start the night right; ‘Point Scorers’ – bottles to seriously impress; ‘Dinner at Yours’ – dinner party wines that will go down a treat; ‘Weeknight Wine’ – affordable wines that go perfectly with takeaway and TV; and ‘Picnic Wine’ – light and refreshing wines best served with friends and food outdoors.
The Bottle Shop also offers a subscription bundle of monthly drops, with a selection of wines delivered on the first day of each month. Customers can choose between the ‘Savour’ – picks that won’t break the bank (from $60), ‘Seduce’ – for those who are on the hunt for something a little special (from $80), and ‘Splurge’ – the very best of the bunch (from $110). The packs come in a range of sizes, petite (3), medium (6), and grand (12) and wine lovers can choose red, white or mixed. The packs can also be purchased as one-offs or for gifts.
Merivale’s Master Sommeliers Franck Moreau MS (above) and Adrian Filiuta MS are responsible for curating the range, working closely with Merivale’s talented sommelier team to ensure a diverse selection of quality wines.
