As Sydney’s fashionistas prepare to don their best glad rags at Sydney Fashion Week, bars across the city are stirring up a concoction of bourbon and bitters as Maker’s Mark Old Fashioned Week gets underway.

Over the next eight days – running 12-20 May – partnering venues will be showcasing their own take on the classic cocktail using Maker’s Mark, with no two recipes allowed to be the same.

Consumers will be able to celebrate a good ol’ fashioned cocktail and bourbon at The Commons, Earl’s Juke Joint, Papa Gede’s, Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern, Riley St Garage, The Roosevelt, Shirt Bar, Soda Factory, Stitch Bar, The Village Inn, The Whisky Room at The Clock Hotel, and The Wild Rover.

Often cited as the original ‘cocktail’, the Old Fashioned is still one of the most called for cocktails on any good bar’s list and a favoured base for experimentation at Sydney’s top watering holes.

Maker’s Mark Old Fashioned Week bartender and The Perfect Blend NSW State Final Winner, Dale Schoon of Earl’s Juke Joint had this to say of the week:

“The great thing about an Old Fashioned is it makes whisky more approachable. Maker’s Mark is perfect for the job. Switching rye out for wheat makes for a sweeter, softer spirit and in turn, a gentle sipping Old Fashioned with a long, warm finish.”

Maker’s Mark is also handing out a special Old Fashioned glass to feature at the selected bars during Maker’s Mark Old Fashioned Week.
